Craftsmanship does not happen simply by using the best
tools. Or the best materials. Or by paying the builder an arm and a leg. Craftsmanship
is a philosophy. It's doing things right the first time.
Everyone at Perkins Construction Company shares this
philosophy. Most of our crew has worked with us for years. We're sharp,
experienced and highly skilled. Since every project presents a different challenge,
we believe in handcrafted solutions. Providing custom work. And bringing the
same level of craftsmanship to jobs big and small. Because, at the end of
the day, all that matters is the work. We want you completely satisfied with
what we leave behind.
There's a great movie directed by John Turturro
called Mac. It's about his father who was a master carpenter. Trying
to make ends meet, Mac has hired out his crew to an unscrupulous contractor.
They've just finished setting the 2x4 studs for the wall of new home
and the contractor orders them to reset the studs farther apart to save a
few feet of lumber. Mac and his crew are beside themselves. There's
a code for how far apart to set studs. But it's about more than the
code. It's about the tradition of building. It's about the craft.
About knowing how it's done. The scene where Mac is forced to knock
out each of his properly set studs with a sledgehammer is about as dramatic
as it gets at the movies. At least for me. - Geoff Perkins
